At just 13 years old, Liam Fanning is already proving that nothing can stop him from pursuing his passion for soccer. His journey to the ADAPTandTHRIVE Invitational by U.S. Soccer is one of resilience, determination, and love for the game.

Liam’s story began on the soccer field, playing for the Hereford Soccer Club. But at the age of 7, everything changed. He started experiencing pain in his left leg, and after tests and evaluations, doctors diagnosed him with bone cancer. To save his life, his left leg had to be amputated.

Despite this life-altering challenge, Liam never lost his passion for soccer. This year, he attended his first amputee soccer training session at the ADAPTandTHRIVE Invitational, where he had the incredible opportunity to play alongside members of the U.S. National Amputee Soccer Team. Far from being intimidated, Liam held his own against some of the best players in the country. His natural talent, determination, and fearless attitude on the field make it clear that he has a bright future ahead.

With the right training and experience, Liam could one day be one of the best amputee soccer players in the world. His journey is just beginning, and if his first training session is any indication, he’s on the path to greatness.
